Instructions for adding the VMware Ethernet Driver to Windows NT 1) Open the Control Panel and double-click the "Network" icon to open the "Network" dialog. On this dialog, select the "Adapters" tab. 2) On the "Adapters" tab, click on "Add" to open the the "Select Network Adapters" dialog. 3) Click on "Have Disk" and enter the path to the VMware Ethernet Driver in the VMware Tools installation directory. The default path is "C:\Program Files\VMware\drivers\vmxnet". This path could be different, depending on where the VMware Tools are installed. Click "OK" when "VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter" is displayed in the "Select OEM Option" dialog box. The VMware network driver will be installed. NOTE: The vmxnet driver will only run correctly if you have Service Pack 3 or later installed. If you do not have the proper service pack installed yet, you may get an error message such as: "System Process - Driver Entry Point Not Found; The \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\vmxnet.sys device driver could not locate the entry point NdisGetFirstBufferFromPacket in driver NDIS.SYS". However, even if you get this message, the driver should work if you subsequently install the correct service pack. 4) Click "Close" on the Adapters windows to complete the installation. Windows will let you configure the Internet address for the card. If you are installing on a virtual machine that was created with VMware Workstation 2.x and used networking, you will need to use a different address than the one the original network configuration used (since this address is still assigned to the now non-existent virtual AMD card). Or you can change the address assigned to the AMD card at this point. 5) Windows will ask you to reboot -- select "No".
